API 510 Courses

Scope of the Course:
API510- The main intent of the code is to specify the In-service Inspection and condition monitoring of the Pressure vessels. It maintains the in-service integrity of the Pressure vessels.

Scope of Job:
API certified inspectors are recognized worldwide. They have very big job Market in the industries like Oil& Gas, Refineries, Petrochemicals, and Chemicals etc. Especially in the region of Middle East, Europe, Africa and Asia.

Application Processes:

Application can be done through online only. All candidates must submit the application api.org directly. Candidate need to fill the requirements of the API. API will cross check the Application. If the candidate fulfills the requirement then they will allow to pay Fees  for Exam. The tests usually happed at prometric centers located in world wide.

Question type:
All the two papers had a multi choice question only.
Question Pattern:
1,Open Book,
2,Closed Book
 API Exam has two parts one is open book test and another part is closed book. Usually Open book had around fifty questions, all the required codes are open for interpretation. Time allocated for the open book test is 3 hours. According to closed book test usually have 100 questions. Time allocated for the closed book test is around 4 hours. The pass percentage is determined by the API. 

Renewal/Recertification Processes:
Three year renewal:

  • It happens after three years from the date of issue.
  • The Candidate must actively engaged as a  inspector.
  • A minimum 20% of time spent performing inspection activities as described in API 510 code. 
  • The inspector who have not been actively engaged as a inspector will required to take written examination for the certification.

Six year renewal:
  • It happens after six years from the date of issue.
  • The Candidate must actively engaged as a inspector.
  • After six years inspector actively engaged as an inspector shall demonstrate knowledge of revisions to  API. 
  • The inspector who have not been actively engaged as a inspector will required to take written examination for the certification.

API 510 covers the following API codes. We are listed the following as per the weightage of marks in API exam.
  • API 510- Pressure vessel-In service Inspection, rerating, repair & alteration code.
  • ASME section-VIII Construction code for Pressure vessel.
  •  API 571-Damage Mechanism affecting Fixed Equipment.
  • API572-Inspection practices for Pressure vessel.
  • API577-Welding Inspection and Metallurgy.
  • API576-Inspection of Pressure- Relieving Devices.
  • Section V -Nondestructive Examination.
  • Section IX-Qualification Standard for Welding , Brazing and Fusion Welding Procedures.
